ABOUT THE FOUNDER
My name is Peter Chant and I am the founder of Vector Advantage. I’ve loved to build stuff my whole life. When I was young that meant building things. Its not surprising that I became an Engineer. My passion for designing and building solutions grew into a love for delivering projects, building teams, growing leaders, crafting strategic advantage, building businesses, and underneath it all, being a leader myself. I soon became a Team Leader, a Project Manager, an Engineering Manager, a Regional Manager, and a Chief Operating Officer. I have 20+ years of experience in leading and managing complex businesses, multi-disciplinary teams, developing complicated products, and delivering major projects and services into almost every industrial sector.
I have had lots of successes in my life but I’ve had lots of failures too. I am passionate about excellence and mastery but neither of these things happen without trying and failing and trying again. The mistakes I’ve made have taught me humility and resilience. I don’t run away from my mistakes, I fix the mess-ups I’ve made and I’ve learned countless, priceless lessons. Some lessons have knocked the wind right out of me. I’ve been knocked down more times than I can remember so, if I know anything, I know what it takes to get back up and go again. Its impossible to fail if you never give up.
I have an MBA majoring in business leadership. I have a Bachelor Degree in Engineering & Computer Science. I love to learn. I am a student of Manufacturing Excellence including statistical process control (aka. LEAN and Six Sigma). I am a student of Project Management excellence including PMBOK, Prince2 and hybrid-Agile methodologies. I am a student of Organisational Behaviour, Business Finance, Marketing and Communication. Above all I am a student of leadership.
I’m also totally human. I am a want-to-be writer and musician. I am a craftsman, a gardener, and an inventor. I love working with natural materials like timber and stone. I make furniture and I have even made my own classical guitar. I have renovated properties. I love the wilderness. I love to explore. I love an adventure. I love to use my body and push its limits. There isn’t a sport I don’t enjoy playing. I love rugby, football, cricket, tennis, golf; you name it, I love it. I love triathlon, trekking, reading, movies, good food, good friends, afternoon naps, and finding good reasons to work my ass off.
